This is for You, Fritz :)

Old soldiers will lead you astray.

On a drizzly Monday morning,β€Ž I rode the 11km to the John Frost bridge at Arnhem. End stage of Market Garden (World War II initiative) and featured in the movie ‘A Bridge too Far‘.

Next stop was Munster.
But why was it 200km further than expected? Wrong place!β€Ž
Fritz had been to tank school near Hamburg. I had been looking at the much larger, and closer Munster near Elst.
Well what’s another 200km? Rain wasn’t supposed to last all day. Wrong! haha
And I did want to see a collection of tanks πŸ™‚

I arrived at the Panzer Museum a bit damp. Needed a cuppa. Luckily there is a cafe that gives mugs of tea πŸ™‚

The museum has stuff! Aside from LOTS of tanks, there are armoured vehicles of all sorts, and even motorcycles. β€Ž
Photos are of
(1) me in front of a Tiger tank
(2) King Tiger tank
(3) British Centurion tank that Fritz would have driven
Well worth the visit. LOTS to see.

Berlin on Wednesday.
Leaves time to get to Wolfsburg and visit VWβ€Ž. After all, we did have a Jetta for 18yrs!

Rode another 100km, in the by now, intermittent rain.

Which reminds me that I need to find a better solution for my chain lube. These newer oils do wash off the chain more easily than the old lube. Means you have to stop and lube the chain more often.

In Wolfsburg found a gyros, German beersβ€Ž, and a supermarket, close to home πŸ™‚

Tip: how do you know you are not in a tourist area? Bank machine uses only the local language! hahaha
