Had missed this place on my last trip, so swung by enroute the Midlands.
Friday lunch in Cricklade. Place looks alive. Better than my last visit in 2010. Used to live here…..
a long time ago. New owners have added a conservatory at the back.
Took in the church and back to the bike. Where I was asked how old I was!!!
Turns out this lady was worried about her 72yr old father. Had bought a motorcycle. She did not want him riding. hahahahahahaha!
I checked and he was not suffering from “old-timers”.
But she was suffering from “mother-itis”. IMHO most women trigger their “worry gene” after pregnancy. That in turn makes them fearfull, and therefore health&safety advocates. To what degree, depends on the woman.
This one was over-board. How do I know? She kept jumping out in the road to slow traffic down!
Disappointed that she did not hear the answers she wanted, the daughter went away.
I felt sorry for her. Her days were filled with worry, not joy. Worst still, she was stuck worrying till her end of days. Imagine living the rest of your days without joy 🙁
With joy, I sat back on the bike. Cricklade was doing well. Sun was shining, and the sky was blue.
Rode on towards Wales.
Booked into the same pub as last July, so I was close to the castle. Nicky (owner) remembered me, whereas my memory of her was that she looked older last year! How I wish I had the youthfull gene!
Dumped most of my gear, and headed to Goodrich castle. And because I signed up for English Heritage last year it was free 🙂
Smallest circular stone staircase that I have ever seen. Not a valid proposition in my motorcycle gear.
Nice sunny day.
All it needed for perfection was a cup of tea. Which the castle provided 🙂
Filled up with petrol.
Back to the pub, and TLC for the bike.
Unpacked properly and changed for dinner……
A couple of nice pints.
Then to bed.
Had called my god-father, to find him back in hospital. Not keen on visitors. Need to switch to a Plan B.
But part of Plan A is still in effect.
So on Saturday morning after a nice breakfast I rode into Hereford to meet up with George and his wife, Pat. They were in from Wales to go shopping.
So we met up and chatted about when we were younger 🙂
Then back to the pub and work seriously on Plan B.
Am spending Easter in Paris. Was always my intention to do Paris in springtime. And have to be back in the UK for May, June and July.
So going back to Barry’s on Tuesday. Pick up my DJ for May and July. Overnight at Barry’s then head out to Paris via the Wednesday evening ferry.
That sorted, had supper…….
, a pint and a chat 🙂
See you all in Paris.
Good Luck to Leicester against Athletico Madrid. I will be on a flight to Dublin when they play.
Thanks for the support:)
Am on a ferry to France.
Score 1-0 to Madrid. Need a minor miracle next Tuesday @ Leicester.
Send me an email if you are coming to the UK
