Ceske Krumlov and Ceske Budejovice

Uncategorized 2 Comments

Ran through villages and countryside till I arrived at Krumlov. Now this is a twee place. Not much past the castle.ย
Parked.
Walked around till I found a cafe, by the riverside. Potato pancakes, with garlic ๐Ÿ™‚ And some cabbage. Just enough to fill me up, but not put me to sleep.
Some chocolates on the way back to the bike.
Then rode off to Bodejovice.
Happy to leave the throngs of tourists.

Found my hotel.
Booked in.
Unloaded.
Parked the bike.
Went walkabout.

Passed a biker’s bar. But needed to get some fruit&veg. And check out the town.
Did both. But now the bar was closed ๐Ÿ™

Asked and found a sportsbar. Showing Spurs not Chelsea. Leicester ended up loosing to Chelsea. But only 2-1, unlike Liverpool.

Supper in the hotel restaurant was nice.
A little amusee……

A little consomme…….

A leg of wild boar and pumpkin……

Washed down with a slivivich style drink and a coffee ๐Ÿ™‚

Then back and start the laundry.

2030hrs was the start of the Bodejovice festival.
Like Toronto’s Nuit Blanche, people wandering around from venue to venue. Clever use of light and music.ย
Ended up at the main venue, a great location by the river. Band playing Vivaldi, a tad rock&roll. Percussions were OUTSTANDING! Ending up with fireworks…….

Walked home, and to bed.
Bodejovice is a good choice as a place to stay ๐Ÿ™‚
Tourists abound. But not to overwhealm the place.

Awoke late, just after 9am on a damp Sunday morning.

Had breakfast.
Checked my laundry: almost dry.

Did some research, and ended up getting tickets for the panto at the Palladium. All together now…….”Oh no you didn’t”, to which I have to reply “Oh yes I did ” ๐Ÿ™‚

Made and ate lunch.ย
From time to time it is nice to be staying in an apartment hotel.

Then took a nap. Best thing to do on a grey cold day.
My book at bedtime continues to be “1491 – New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus’ by Charles C. Mann. A really interesting read on how populated the Americas were, until European diseases arrived. Talks about how the ingenous peoples managed the environment. And how they lost out to internal strife.

Awoke to find it still raining.

Went up the Black Tower and took this photo….

See the clouds hiding the mountains on the horizon?
The walk up the spiral staircase was only 4 stories. The wooden stairs (ladders?) added another 5. Quite the workout.ย
The walk down was a lot easier.

Once down, I walked by the cathedral. Door was open, so I walked in. It was a trap. Service in progress. Stayed. Quite a different cadence to other services that I have attended.

Out and around the town. Feel as if I know the place now. Especially after last night.

Bought a couple of items.โ€Ž Feels a bit weird shopping in Tesco, here in Budejovice.ย

Back and made supper.
Did some blue-sky planning.
A bit more Laundry.

Then ended the night with a nice dark beer.
Gotta love the Czech Republic ๐Ÿ™‚

Monday morning up really early.
TaiChi.ย
Made breakfast. Ended the weekend having been vegetarian, aside from supper on Saturday night.

Sun was shining as I walked to the bike. Cover was stil wet, so gave it a good shake.
First parade.
Packed.
Rode off.

Been a nice time.

Vienna here I come.

Richard says:

Interesting that you are reading the book about the Americas as I had just watched a similar series.

Wien? Can you say schnitzel?

biker says:

A slightly different take on depopulation from the book.

As for schnitzel ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
A schnitzel a day, …….
