England and Wales have announced their timeline to get back to some sort of normality by May 2021. Even my club in London has announced as much. This timeline reflects that a third of the population have taken their first covid vaccine shot, with the second shot starting soon.

With vaccination, the numbers will change. Which makes this a good time to take stock.

We have over a year’s worth of data.
And what does it show?

What it shows, is that age does matter……….

This bar chart shows what you would expect. That the older you are, the more likely you are to die. And that the older you are, the more likely you are to die from covid.

The numbers have been consistent throughout the year. 84% of covid deaths occur in the over 70’s, who comprise only 13% of the population.

Here is the past year and a bit, showing total deaths………

Again reinforcing that under 50’s do not appear in any significant way, when counting total deaths. Which is really what you hope for. Be a sad, sad world if more young people were dying than old people. It is the cycle of life.
We are born.
We grow old.
We die.

Of course it helps to look at these numbers disspationately if you are only 28 😉
