Melton Mowbray Revisited

Uncategorized 1 Comment ,

Bit of a surprise seeing all the hoarding outside Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe.
Luckily they have taken on small (tiny?) premises just behind, on the left.

Once inside I was confused by four choices in pork pie companies. I went for a hand-raised pie, which turned out to be a great choice.

Next stop. A cuppa.

After booking into my hotel, went out for a look around Melton Mowbray.

GoodNews: Melton carries draft Bass. Beer from Everards has improved.
BadNews: Most pubs use sparklers :(‎ Which are removed upon request 🙂

The next morning, Orysia came and took me back to her place. Surprising how quickly time passes when you are catching up.

Chatting finished, it was just after 4:30pm, when Orysia dropped me at the railway station so I could checkout tomorrow’s mode of transport. We bad our farewells. With me walking home via my favourite two pubs.

Friday morning after a full breakfast, I caught the train to Leicester, where I am now.

NB: Appears all the best pork pies are owned by one company Samworth_Brothers. Consequently, the shoppe carries
– Dickinson&Morris – best mass-produced pork pies IMHO
– You can buy the above made by hand (hand-raised)
– And a slightly spicier version attributed to Mary Dickinson
– Walkers is another mass-produced pork pie, that was made in Leicester. The company was bought out in 2018
